At The Forgotten Toy Shop, we curate a warm, welcoming place, both online and in our Nottingham store, for families to discover beautiful, traditional toys and games that spark imagination, creativity, and laughter. Our belief is simple: the best toys don’t need batteries — just imagination and time spent together.
Hello! I’m Karen, the owner and founder. I live just outside Nottingham with my partner, our lovable Labrador Wilson, and our son Zachary — our official “chief toy tester”. Growing up, I adored the classic toys that encouraged creativity and imagination. After returning from travelling in 2009, I set up a small market stall selling gifts and traditional toys — and I fell in love with sharing that joy with others.
Over time, the toy side of the business grew, and The Forgotten Toy Shop was born — a place where parents, grandparents, and children can find toys that feel meaningful, well-made, and full of play value.
The name comes from something I overheard one day at a market stall:
“Oh wow — I forgot about that toy!”
That moment stuck with me because it perfectly captures our mission — bringing back those long-loved toys that inspire creativity, connection, and nostalgic delight.

I was pleased to find an item that was out of stock or more expensive elsewhere. It arrived very quickly, with the option to have it delivered to my local post office which is always my preference. Item was in perfect condition. Will use this shop again.
